A Fantastic Hike in Oregon City
Here is a hidden Gem of a hike 💎 Canemah Bluff Nature Park is a beautiful destination for nature lovers & hiking enthusiasts alike. Located in Oregon City, Oregon, this park features a variety of trails, scenic viewpoints, and natural wonders that make it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the great outdoors.
The park's hiking trails vary in length and difficulty, making it accessible for hikers of all skill levels. The Canemah Bluff Trail is a popular choice among visitors, offering stunning views of the Willamette River Falls. This easy-to-moderate 1.5-mile trail takes hikers through a forested area, and up an incline to the bluff's summit. At the top, hikers are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Willamette River, Mount Hood, and the surrounding mountains.
For a more challenging hike, visitors can try the River View Trail, which is approximately 2.2 miles in length and features steep inclines and descents, as well as breathtaking views of the river. This trail is rated as moderate to difficult and is perfect for experienced hikers who are up for a challenge.
The Licorice Fern Trail is my personal favorite. Traversing inclines lead hikers through a radiant fern forest where you’ll cross footbridges and trek through lush, green vegetation. The sparsely populated trails allow me to hike my pups off-leash. In the Spring, you’ll be rewarded with a sea of daffodils & cherry blossom blooms, and misty mornings are reminiscent of hiking on the Oregon Coast.
One of the unique features of Canemah Bluff State Park is the historic Canemah Cemetery, which is located on the bluff's western slope. This cemetery was established in the mid-1800s and is the final resting place for many of the early settlers of Oregon City.
In addition to hiking and exploring the cemetery, visitors to Canemah Bluff State Park can also enjoy a picnic in one of the park's designated picnic areas. The park also has a playground for children, making it a great destination for families. The trails are well maintained and all-terrain strollers could be accommodated.
With its stunning views, diverse trails, and historic cemetery, Canemah Bluff State Park has something to offer everyone.
